Chestnut burl

<Features>

It is also an excellent wood and is considered a fine wood.
It is a ring-porous wood with a strong grain that becomes lustrous when polished, is hard, elastic, and has little warping.
Because it has excellent preservative properties and is highly resistant to moisture, it has long been used for the foundations of wooden houses and bathrooms. Furthermore, it is still highly valued today as the only building material that can be used without the use of preservatives.
It is said that because of this characteristic, if you keep a chestnut tree close by, it will help you to persevere and not rot.
In the world of Japanese sukiya, its simple, gentle, and powerful presence is especially loved and used.

<Color Tone>

The sapwood is narrow and grayish white with a brownish tinge. The heartwood is brown. The wood contains a lot of tannins and gradually darkens with age, changing from chestnut brown to blackish brown. The annual rings are clearly visible.

<Applications>

In addition to being used as a building material, it is often used for decorative parts such as accessories and as furniture material.

<Production area>

It grows from southwestern Hokkaido to Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu, and is also distributed in Korea.
