Camphor tree

Some trees are over a thousand years old and are planted at shrines and temples as objects of worship.
It is a perfect gift for a boy's birthday because of its vitality, which allows it to grow quickly even if the branches are cut.

The material of camphor tree is very soft and becomes shiny when polished.
Because it is difficult to dry, it tends to get distorted.
The bark of camphor tree is fine and has excellent moisture resistance and durability.
It also has a unique aroma, the smell of camphor.

<Producing area>

It is common in warm areas south of the Kanto region, especially on the coast. It is also distributed in Taiwan and China.
Furthermore, ``kusunoki'' refers to a tree that was brought over from the south.

<Color tone>

The boundary between sapwood and heartwood is clear, with sapwood being grayish-white to pale yellowish brown, and heartwood being reddish-brown to dark green.
The wood may look dull, but sometimes it has beautiful heather.

It has been used as furniture material since ancient times because its leaves and branches contain camphor, which has insect repellent properties. It is also used as a musical instrument, carving material, and interior decoration material.
