The sapwood is clearly divided, with the sapwood being yellowish white and the heartwood being pale pink to light yellowish brown, with dark brown stripes. The wood is heavy and hard, the grain is intersecting, and the texture is rough. When polished, it becomes shiny. Drying is difficult and requires time.
